Once again in the category of things you learn while helping your kids with their homework, did you know Albert Einstein failed his entrance exam to go into engineering? He did not fail the math or science but failed the english, history, geography sections. As a child, he learned to speak very late. This is all very good news for those kids who are late speaking and do better in the maths and sciences!
He was a Jew born in Germany who moved the the US when Hitler came into power. He had concerns that the Nazis would try to build a bomb so he wrote a letter to FDR to warn him. But when the Manhattan Project was started, Einstein was not actually involved in the project. He was glad about that later, as he regretted contributing to war and weapons.
Did you know that there is a Wikipedia page just on Einstein’s brain?
Apparently Einstein’s brain was removed by the pathologist during the autopsy who kept pieces of it for over 20 years, preserved in jars. Small pieces of his brain have been studied over the years by various researchers. Although pieces of his brain, and pictures of the brain as a whole, have been studied in numerous studies, they don’t seem to know or understand a lot. They can point to some differences observed between Einstein’s brain and other brains, such has stronger connections between hemispheres, more glial cells (which provide nutrients to the brain), and a larger inferior parietal lobe which is responsible for mathematical thought, visuospatial cognition, and imagery of movement.
What they don’t seem to know, is are these differences the CAUSE of his genius abilities or are the RESULT of his unique thought patterns. I love the work that Dr. Caroline Leaf does on the brain, showing that you CAN change how your brain thinks, and develop new neural pathways in the brain from choosing to think positively.
God says in Isaiah 55:8-9
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
9For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Actually I love this whole chapter – Isaiah 55
